One of the frequently asked questions in catfish farming is that of how to know the number of catfish to be stocked in a pond or container. I have answered this question through my article on carriage capacity of pond.

Like I said in some of my previous writeups, calculation of stocking density depends so much on a number of variables. Pond type is an important variable that must be given priority in calculating capacity of pond in relationship to stocking/harvest ratio. Other vital variables include; availability of water source and volume, water management techniques to be adopted, desired size/volume expected at harvest, groundwater capacity in earthen pond, feed type to be used, estimated mortality rate based on previous experience or average mortality rate in your environment and numerous other variables.

Vitamins are one of the most important minor ingredients in catfish feed. Absence of vitamins in feed can cause growth problem, diseases, and many other disorders in catfish. Catfish premix is manufactured to compensate for the absence of vital vitamins in major catfish feed ingredients. Before you buy any fish premix, ensure it contains all important vitamins like Vitamin A, D, E, K, B12, C, and host of others as listed below.

Below are vitamins your catfish feed must have and the signs you will see if your feed does not have them.
